Headless Chickens







When we are busy and on the go

but getting nowhere fast

we have an expression here in the UK

'Running round like headless chickens'




This is our version of







headless chickens.

  1. In Australia we call it 'running round like headless chooks!' The other thing we say is 'running round like blue arse flies'! I've never seen one of those. Have you? Yummmmmmm.......chicken!

  13. Same saying in US as in Canada. Wonder where it originated? We also, say "two heads are better than one," so whatever Hannah and Lucy are up to they are using both their heads.   27. Yep! We has "Running around like a chicken with its head chopped off!" Mommy worked on a ranch in her late teens and one of the jobs was to chop the heads off the chickens (and pluck and clean them) Some decapitated chickens can continue to run and flap its wings for some time without its head!
