.
This is me on a good day but this weekend I have been sick and this morning mum had to take me to the stabby vet place which is my most unfavourite place.
.
.
Mum: Lucy was very sick a few times yesterday and after the first bout it was just yellow bile - usually she lays low for a few hours if this happens and then feels better but she was no better this morning so off the the vets we went. Diane who we usually see was not working today so we had to see another lady vet and she said she wasn't showing signs of dehydration so has given me some gloop to syringe down her throat. Lucy might be feeling grotty but she won't let me near her mouth and I have several interesting red claw marks to prove it but there is a plan B - which I have to think about -or does anyone have a suggestion.
.
Oh Dear! Poor Lucy! And poor Mum too! It sounds like thick garden gloves (cricket gloves?) might be needed here...
ReplyDeletePlease feel better soonest, Lucy!

Oh, dear, poor Lucy girl. I really hope this illness passes of its own accord. No good suggestions for syringing anything down her throat if she is resisting. Best of luck.
ReplyDeleteOh no we are so sorry to hear that Lucy is sick!!! Do you think she would eat her food if you mixed the gloop into it?
ReplyDeletePoor Lucy! Did you try sitting on her? Kneeling on the floor with Lucy between your thighs, you put your bum down on her and squeeze your legs together to hold her. Then pry open her mouth. I could do it with Annie, though she fought even when sick, but the boys have given me a harder time--they're stronger.
ReplyDeleteNot sure what else to suggest!
We all hope she's feeling better soon, though! Hugs to you!
Poor Lucy!We hope she is feeling bettersoon! We will purr like crazy for her!

Oh, NO!!!!!!!!!!!! Darlin' darlin' darlin' Lucy we are purraying that you will quickly be 100% again.
ReplyDeletexxxxxxx
I sure hope that sweet Lucy starts feeling better really soon. My sisters and I are all sending purrs her way.
ReplyDeletePoor Lucy...what did you get into! Do you have some stinky sardines or tuna or something she loves (I use Fancy Feast which I normally don't feed my cats) to mix the gloop into? That might work.
ReplyDeleteWe hope you feel better soon Lucy!

Poor Lucy!! We suggest mixing it with something or resorting to the purrito method - wrap her in a towel with her head sticking out and give it to her that way. (mom has to do this with kittens sometimes)
ReplyDeleteOh sweet Lucy!!! Oh dear!! What happened, why was she vomiting? Awwww!! Syringing meds down is not easy - I do know - truly. I had to syringe my Ol Girl and her brother Tim. It was a case of shoving the syringe down the very side of their mouths where there was a gap between their teeth - failing that - I had to syringe the meds into a bit of gravy in the hope that they'd lap that up. With Tim, I ended up syringing his food - luckily he did eat the lot. My Ol Girl wasn't fooled so easily though and it was a fight to get the meds down her. I think I did it when she was just about to sleep or waking up from her sleep then I pounced!
ReplyDeleteGood luck!! Me and Charlie are sending Lucy tons and tons and tons of purrs and healing hugs!! Awwww poor Lucy!
Hugs to adorable Hannah too! take care

Oh No! Poor Lucy! Me has not any suggestions. Nobody can get anything into my mouth either! Me is purraying she gets better soon!
ReplyDeleteNellie
Oh no Lucy. We are sorry you are sick. We were wondering where you were this morning. I was going to suggest a towel around her but you would have to figure out how to tie the towel so you don't have to hold the towel and the cat. Can you scruff Lucy. Sometimes when they are scruffed, they don't fight as much and it doesn't hurt them. Just gets their attention. If you can scruff her, pull her head back and then put the stuff down her throat. If all that fails, call the vet and ask for pills or a shot.
ReplyDeleteOh poor Lucy - we are so sorry you are feeling crummy! We hope you will feel better soon. We are sending over lots of get well purrs and prayers.
ReplyDeleteI don't really have a good suggestion - the best I know is the kitty burrito - wrap her up to make her more secure feeling and also protect you from claws. I have a lot of trouble giving Kirzon any kind of meds, so I am sending you lots of good luck thoughts!
I am SO sorry to read this and I hope by the time I have read it after you wrote it that she is feeling better. That is alarming and I'm glad she went tot he Vet. I will be purring hard for her. xoxoxo
ReplyDeleteWe are purring VERY hard for sweet Lucy! Mommy says be firm and be quick. That's easy for her to say; she has nerves of steel and doesn't care if we bite her. Which we do. Fuzzy Tail's method is what she does if Daddy isn't around to assist in the Evilness of Restraint.
ReplyDeletePlease feel well soon, Lucy!
Oh no! I hope Lucy feels better soon. I'm afraid I don't have any suggestions - we are embarrassingly easy to dose. Well, not THAT easy, but way easier than most kitties.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry to hear sweet Lucy is sick and we hope you succeed in getting the meds down.. If you get her wrapped good like some said, that may work. Lucy, be good and don't scratch Mom. Many purrs on the way.
ReplyDeletexoxo Kassey
Oh Miss Lucy, we're sorry to hear you're barfy. We don't have any good suggestions as to how to deliver the meds, but it sounds like what ever you do will hiss Lucy off. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteOne idea is to wrap Lucy up in a towel or a blanket so she can't swat. Then pry her mouth open and hold it with one hand while you squirt the syringe. It takes some practice, but having them incapacitated is helpful.
ReplyDeleteGet well soon, Lucy!
Our vet always said if it was bile vomit then an organ was suspect - in our case it was kideys for Chica. I hope this passes and we are sending purrs.
ReplyDeleteCats of Wildcat Woods
Bless her heart. Maw usually sits on us like Fuzzy Tales said to do. And slip it into the side of the mouth and squirt.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with that!
Luf, Us and Maw
Oh My dear Lucy, I hope you feel better , purrs purrs for you.
ReplyDeletexoxoxo
no suggestions here but hope Lucy feels better soon.
ReplyDeletePurrs and snuggles,
Taz, Runt, Charles and mommy, Anna, in IL
Lucy bad tummy problems do happen so hopefully it is just taking a little longer to feel better. I know about being difficult for the Mom what she does is try to pet me and get me relaxed before doing anything that I might not like.
ReplyDeleteIf you have a soft sided PTU you can put Lucy into it and zip her body in and keep her head above it and perhaps you can control syringing her medication that way?
ReplyDeleteWe are sending healing purrs to you sweet Lucy.

I hope Lucy is feeling better soon! Praline never liked the hairball control gel I had to give her, so I had to pry open her mouth and slab it on the back of her tongue and get my fingers out before she closed her teeth on them. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteMom Paula
Oh dear poor Lucy! And poor you too. I'd wrap her in a towel and have someone else open her mouth. maybe it's just a bad tooth - or something stuck in her gums.
