Remembrance Day

.
Today marks 93 years since the end of the First World War on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the
11th month 1918.
.
So many young lives were lost in the hope of freedom for us all.

.

.

.
It is now a day of remembrance for all the lives lost in that war and also World War II and other wars including Bosnia, Korea and Afghanistan to name but a few.  The many young lives lost for our freedom must never be forgotten.
.
The use of the poppy was inspired by a World War I poem
"In Flanders Fields"
.

.
They are supposed to be the first flowers to bloom on the graves of the dead soldiers in Flanders and the red signifies their blood.
.
We dedicate this post also to all the soldiers in the world who are now fighting for our safety.
.

.
We think of you and thank you all.

  1. There have been too many wars since the original Armistice Day. My wish is that one day, our leaders figure out a better path to peace and freedom than one that is paved with the blood of young men and women.
