.
It is 2 years today since Mum rescued us from the R.S.P.C.A where she had fallen in love with us
.
(actually we hypnotised her when we saw her cos we thought she looked a soft touch!!)
.
.
This is our very first picture
.
.
napping on our gizzy quilt.
.
Mum says Lucy looks a bit scared here
.
.
but Hannah was always
.
her relaxed self.
.
However, she wasn't excited by
.
.
our first snow - (rather chilly on the paws and the bum!!)
.
one year later
.
and you can see
.
.
that Lucy clearly wasn't either!
.
.
our best time is spent in the sunshine on top of the fence watching the neighbours,
.
.
sitting on top of the roof
.
.
or relaxing in a garden chair
.
.
taking the air
.
.
or watching birdies
.
.
and we love snuggling together
.
We are so happy to have met you all and to have made so many wonderful friends here .
.
Now that's enough slush Mum
.
Where are the nipitinis?
.
Drinks all round for our friends.
.
Unfortunately Lucy is still scared of her own shadow and has stopped eating again and Mum is so worried about her. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Happy gotcha day, girls! I wish I had some suggestions for Lucy, but the only thing I can suggest is keeping a close eye on her to see what triggers her behavior and the not eating the most - basically try to find clues that you can discuss with a vet or behaviorist. Has she checked out okay at the vet? Or could there be some problem that they didn't catch before? The not eating is especially worrisome.
ReplyDeleteHAPPY GOTCHA!!! I have some wonderful smoochies that I will now cover you in.
ReplyDeleteHappy Gotcha Day to you both you beautiful ladycats.
ReplyDeleteWe're sorry Lucy still is traumatized. Can you get a homeopathic stress reliever for her? The mom found something for Derry, liquid, by Natural Pet and at one of the local pet food supply stores. But we're not sure what you'd have access to. Check with Cheri at Cats of the Wildcat Woods on homeopathic remedies; she has a homeopathic vet and she's well-versed in alternative remedies.
Also, Lucy does need to eat...Is she eating anything at all? Because she really ought not to go more than a couple of days without food--cats are so susceptible to fatty liver disease if they stop eating. If push comes to shove, you might want to consider an appetite stimulant from the vet. And/or an anti-anxiety in the short term (if not something homeopathic).
But what about treats, will she eat those? Maybe crushed up and sprinkled on her regular food? Will she eat non-spiced baby food?
Purrs for Lucy and paws crossed.
Happy Gotcha Day Hannah and Lucy! Come on Lucy sweetie, you have got to eat. How about something really stinky like sardines or something to catch your attention. You can do it Lucy, we're purring on it!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness!! HAPPY 2nd GOTCHA DAY amazing Lucy and wonderful Hannah! Awww you girls are so beautiful and lovely! Me and Charlie are so happy you hypnotized mum! Yay!! Good clever girls!!
ReplyDeleteAwww Lucy, sweet Lucy! Please get better! Poor Lucy! :-(
I was also going to say feliway or something like that. Smelly food? We have fingers and paws crossed that Lucy starts to eat soon. It's very sad! :-( Take care
x
Happy Gotcha day you two. We are so glad that you picked out your Mom. She was a great pick.
ReplyDeleteDon't like to hear that Lucy has stopped eating again. Mom will send you an email.
Hope you have a great day or at least try to anyway.
Sue gotcha Hannah and Sue gotcha Lucy and Hannah gotcha Sue and Lucy gotcha Sue ~ and what a grand gotcha day for all!
ReplyDelete[our girls will always "go for" human tuna (canned)and the juice from the tuna; also love the same with human canned mackarel ... don't know if either would interest Lucy, maybe worth trying]
Happy Gotcha Day, girls! We are so happy we have met you and you are our furiends!!
ReplyDeletePoor Lucy! We hope she starts eating...like others have said, maybe some really stinky foods would help. And feliway, or Rescue Remedy, or othe homeopathic remedy to help overcome her fears.
Happy Gotcha Day Hannah and Lucy!
ReplyDeletePoor Lucy, we hope some of the advice works for her and she starts eating again. Could there be some injury that the vet missed first time? It could be a good idea to take her back to see if there is something as well as the nervousness causing her to not want to eat.
Happy Gotcha Day, girls! We hope you have a great day, and we're so glad you got such a good home. I'd take Lucy to the VET, just to be safe. It may be something physical that needs treatment. We're pulling for you!
ReplyDeleteWe are so sad to hear sweet Lucy is still having troubles. We think of her so often. Do they sell calming collars or Feliway plug ins there? Those really help and work.
ReplyDeleteHappy Gotcha Day you two lucky girls!
Happy Gotcha Day ladies!!
ReplyDeleteWe are so upset about you, Lucy. We wish you could talk about 'things' and feel better. Have you tried meat baby food (without onions)?
Maybe a trip to the V-E-T would help? Our sisfur Anna Sue had to go yesterday to get her claws trimmed. She hated it... and you probably do too.
Sending lots of good wishes for you to feel better.
Gentle ((hugs)) and Purrrrs..
~ Napoleon
Happy Gotcha Day girls!!!
ReplyDeleteMiss Lucy - you gotta eat. Has your mom tried chick-hen? Also, she can get something from the vet called science diet a/d which helps kickstart things...we have yet to meet a cat or kitten that won't eat it. purrs.....
Happy Gotcha Day, gorgeous gals. We love you. Lucy, sweetie, we are praying for you.
ReplyDeleteHappy Gotcha Day.
ReplyDeleteWe recommends Feliway, it has done wonders for Scylla's anxiety. We has the diffuser. We has to say Scylla will not eat Science Diet (funny that the fatty in the house is also the picky eater) Socks & Arty loved it.
You might also try feeding her in a mostly dark small room where she feels comfortable. Mommy uses her Master Bathroom which is VERY SMALL as a safe cave for us when we are scared or hurt. She plugs in a night light for a tiny bit of light but not too much.
Happy Gotcha Day, Girls! We're so sorry about Lucy's continuing trauma. You might ask your vet about Zylkene which may be able to help (http://www.zylkene.co.uk/). As for food, a little chicken breast., perhaps?
ReplyDeletePurrs,
The Chans
Others have already made this recommenation, but try the baby food.
ReplyDeleteHappy Gotcha day ladies!!
ReplyDeleteThe Florida Furkids and Angel Sniffie
Happy Gotcha Day, girls! We think you found the perfect home.
ReplyDeleteWe hope Lucy will start eating again. It's very scary when furries don't eat.
Happy Gotcha Day Girls! You fell into a wonderful and loving home, lucky babies!
ReplyDeleteWe think maybe a trip to the vet's for Lucy to make sure nothing is amidst internally might be a good idea. Everyone made good food tempting suggestions.Stinky sardines, or tuna, baby food all sound good. The Hill Science a/d helped Tulip alot when she had a loss of appetite at one point. Also Fancy Feast in pate form. Not the healthiest thing maybe but cats usually love it!
We are sending you both lots of hugs and love.
the critters in The Cottage xo
Wowwie! 2 years! Yous guys sure know how to pick family. Me will has a double niptini,
ReplyDeleteOn a more serious note, when me gets upset, Mommy puts my bed in my favorite safe place (our bedroom) with my own dishes and keeps it dim, with the radio on and does not let the other animals in to bother mes (except at night). and she lets me have my favorites to eats.
Wes is purraying for yous Lucy and we is sending your family comforting kisses
Nellie
Happy Gotcha day, Beautiful Girls! We are ready for our Niptinis!
ReplyDeleteSweet Pea has been helped enormously by an antidepressant, the change in her over the last month is amazing. I wish we had started her on it a long while ago. Maybe a little valium for Lucy would help--it's an appetite stimulant as well. I do think a check up is in order, though.
{{hugs}} Trish
Happy Gotcha Day Hannah and Lucy! The both of you have grown into beautiful ladycats in the 2 years since your Mom brought you home.
ReplyDeleteLucy, please eat. We are all worried about you. Have you tried Bach Flower Remedy or Rescue Remedy? While the vet has ruled out any medical problems with her, it may been good to pay him another visit and maybe also get an appetite stimulant? Meanwhile we will continue to keep her in our prayers and sending lots of purrs that she feels better soon. The awful person who did this to her ought to be ashamed of himself!
Admirals Mom here: Happy Gotcha day you two darling girls! xoxoxo
ReplyDeleteAww, we love those pictures of you two. We did not realize you were adopted together. How nice!
ReplyDeleteLucy girl, we don't have any specific ideas for making you less scared. We wonder if your vet could actually prescribe some tranquilizers or something for you. Even though I am not really scared of my Dad, sometimes just the fct that he walks louder than Mom seems to set me off, and I will much prefer Mom to set my food bowl down for me. And that is without a specific scare. We do hope you will start doing better agin. Has maybe Christmas excitement set you off?
Purrs and purrs.
We are so happy that you are celebrating your 2nd GOTCHA day. YOu are both so beautiful. Oh Lucy we are so sorry that you are still afraid. We do agree that a quick trip to the Vet may be called for. It is so important for you to eat and we hope that you begin to feel more like yourself very soon.

ReplyDeleteWhat great pals you are, girls! I like the early pics, too.
ReplyDeleteOh, Lucy, where'd your appetite go?
I wish I had some ideas, but I just don't know. Everybody eats like a horse around here and that includes me, Julie and Mittens.
I hope you find some good suggestions in the comments, dear!
Hugs,
Tom, Mittens & mom Julie
Happy Gotcha Day - are you guys from the same litter too or just adopted together?
ReplyDeleteSome homeopathic suggestions - Nux vomica will help with the not eating. Aconite helps with fear. Arnica helps with any trauma. And Rescue Remedy Bach Flowers helps with trauma.
Sending purrs for Lucy. Is she OK physically? If she was hurt there may be a reason she does not feel like eating - is she in pain? Contact me id you need to for more ideas.

Happy Second Gotcha Day Hannah and Lucy. You are very lovely girls!
ReplyDeleteWe can only repeat what others have said about enticing foods, or ask for vet advice. We hope you will relax and enjoy life again soon Lucy!!
Happy Gotcha Day to you both, sweet girls. :)
ReplyDeleteWe are so sorry to hear that Lucy is still so afraid. Perhaps you could try Feliway, or Rescue remedy in her water? In the meantime, we will keep on purring and praying for her.
Happy gotcha day, ladies! Hope you have a great day filled with all your favorites.
ReplyDeleteWe are sorry that Lucy is still afraid. Nellie's idea sounded good. I've been doing supplemental hand feeding for Taffy over the past couple of weeks as she's still feeling poorly. I mix a little pate style wet cat food with a spoon of baby food squash and a little warm water and give it to her in a syringe. Slowly, point the syringe across her mouth, not down the throat. Once she figured out that she liked the food it goes well. Vet's have a food A/D, I think, that is high in calories and is often given to recovering cats. She must get food in her. You can start slow and then build up to what she should have. All of this is assuming that she doesn't have a medical problem that's not been addressed.
Hugs and purrs,
Laura and Taffy
Happy Gotcha Day Girls!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWait!! Lucy isn't eating again? I wasn't around because Cody was sick all week (until today)...turned out he had a backup of POOP!!!
Did you take Lucy to the vet?
Please feel better soon Lucy!
xoxoxo
Oops we are late! Belated Happy Gotcha Day wishes to you both. You both landed firmly on all four paws when your Mum adopted you both. Hope you both had a lovely treat filled day.
ReplyDeleteNow, Lucy, poor girl still so scared. Our ape saw what your Mum wrote on Eric & Flynns blog in the comments about what happened, so we are going to suggest this:-
..ask your Mum to help you write to George Online Cat. George owns Celia Haddon the UK Pet Behaviourist and Celia will type up George's words of advice. George gives really good advice in cases like this...
You can write to George here:-
chaddon@atlas.co.uk
and George's website is here:-

George and Celia are a very good team.

ReplyDeleteWe hope Lucy is feeling a bit better.
Happy Gotcha'd Day, Hannah and Lucy. Lucy girl, I hope you start eating again.
ReplyDeletexoxo Kassey
Happy BeLated Gotcha Days to two of my favorite kits!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure others have suggested it but when I have to go to the vet my parents spray my PTU with a pheromone spray and it really calms me down. maybe it would help.
Happy Belated Gotcha Day Sweet Ladies! Do you have any niptinis left? We continue to purr for Lucy and send her good thoughts. Please eat your Num-Nums Lucy we are worried about you.
ReplyDeleteHappy belated gotcha day! Hannah, you remind me a bit of Melly- do you like showing off your belly floof too?
